Plez Michael Collins, 67, of Pahoa died June 14 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Bend, Ore., he was a self-employed carpenter. Celebration of life and scattering of ashes held at Milolii. Survived by wife, Joyce Collins of Puna; sons, Weston H. (Maha) Collins of Waimea and Plez O. Collins of Puna; daughter, Jessica (Steven) Hastey of Puna; mother, Edna Brown of Othello, Wash.; brothers, Kenneth Li Collins of Oregon and Larry Jo Collins of Arizona; sister, Suzi Cyr of Milolii; hanai sons, John Harman of Puna and Chad Allred of Kona; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews and hanai family. Barbara Jean Kaheuokawailani Hewlett, 84, of Keaau died May 24 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was an office clerk at a Hawaiian crafts store. Celebration of life at a later date. Ellen Fumiko Okinaka, 79, of Hilo died May 9 in Honolulu. Born in Koloa, Kauai, she was a retired 3rd grade teacher for Waiakeawaena Elementary School and member of Hilo Missionary Church, Hui O Wahine Family and Community Education, Hawaii State Teachers Association and mahjongg player at Kamana Senior Center, gardener, baker and traveler. Visitation 2-3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 3 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by husband, Alan Okinaka of Hilo; sons, Jonathan (Mae Lin) Okinaka of Kenmore, Wash., and Jeffrey (Kristin Mari) Okinaka of Kailua, Oahu; sisters, Grace Takabayashi of Omao, Kauai, and Betty (Lawrence) Ing of Wailuku, Maui; three grandchildren; uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. Herbert Santana, 77, of Pahoa died May 29 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hawaii, he was a retired commercial truck driver for Pacific Waste and U.S. Army veteran. Graveside service noon Wednesday (June 26) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Survived by sons, Jeremiah Santana, Jonathan Santana, and Herbert Boy Santana; daughters, Nova Lee Du and Mona Lisa Santana; sister, Alice Mercado. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary.

The late Wendell Akio Mattos Sr. was survived by, among others, six great-grandchildren. An incorrect relationship appeared in an obituary published Thursday. The Tribune-Herald regrets the error.
